I didn’t always love my tutto. I admired its beauty from afar like a first crush. Finally, I had to have it. But also like a first crush, it wasn’t what it seemed to be. At first. You see, for me the tutto took some getting used to. But once I got used to it, I fell in love
The tutto is what I would call an AI2 (all-in-two) because it has inserts that snap in instead of stuffing into a pocket. At first these inserts look a little weird and even a little intimidating. My husband calls them “the flappy diapers”.
All of this for one diaper? Yes. But with all of these funny looking inserts, there is a ton of absorbency to be had with the tutto depending on the number of inserts you use. I usually use the two bigger ones snapped in backwards (yellow to purple, purple to yellow) because I find that to be the best configuration for a boy. You would probably want to snap them in yellow to yellow, purple to purple for a girl. With the third, smaller insert added I was able to use it for overnight and it worked for 11 hours. I also put the smaller one in for extra peace of mind if we’re going to be out for a while.
There is also a gusset around the top area of the diaper to keep messes inside and a hip snap cover that can be used or tucked inside a little pocket if needed. Really, this diaper is quite ingenious.
Besides figuring out the insert configuration that works best for you, figuring out how to put it on took me a little practice. If you look at the diaper line, it fits more like underwear than your typical diaper.
When I first tried to put it on I thought it was too small. I had it snapped where it should have been (medium) but my rise snaps kept coming undone when I tried to snap the diaper closed. But then I had my AHA moment. I didn’t pull straight up like with other diapers, but more in along the underwear line and than up to snap it and it worked like a charm!
Now my beautiful tutto and I are living in fluffy harmony. It’s absorbent, soft, trim, gorgeous, and look at this cute fluffy rump!
- Trim fit
- Adjustable absorbency
- Very absorbent without being bulky
- Can be used overnight (for my average wetter)
- Fits well under pants and jeans
- The inserts stay very dry
- Poo rinses off the inserts completely with a diaper sprayer
- The learning curve
The tutto retails for $26.99 USD. This may seem pricey for a diaper, but I think the craftsmanship make them worth the price.
