Who am I?
My name is Regan and I am a (late) thirtysomething mom to a twelve year old and, as of today, a sixteen month old. For the purposes of the blog the pre-teen is referred to as Red as an homage to his hair color and the toddler is K-Dub, a play on his initials, K.W.
I am addicted to cloth diapering but am only partially crunchy. I am still breastfeeding and made my own baby food until we started giving him table foods at about 8 months old. I just go with the flow and do what feels right without subscribing to a specific parenting style or ideal.
Red has ADHD and was diagnosed in the middle of first grade. But oddly enough, he was a very calm baby and toddler. I hardly babyproofed the house at all and didn’t have to stop him from being a danger to himself. Now K-Dub…I can’t babyproof enough! He keeps me very busy and is the reason for the box of hair dye that’s always in my linen closet.
What is this blog?
I have one of those families that often has you saying, “oh, to be a fly on the wall”. I needed a place to chronicle those funny and downright weird stories so I decided to start a blog over three years ago. Soon after starting that blog, I had an eye injury. In fact, my retina detached for unknown reasons, and I was unable to read, write, or look at a computer for months. After that I lost momentum and scrapped the blog for a few years.
Then about 10 months ago I decided to try again with a new blog, but with an infant and a move I didn’t really start blogging with any regularity until October 2011. This is Blog Part Deaux with a different name and a different family dynamic since we decided to add a baby to our family during my hiatus.
This time I dubbed my blog The Anti-June Cleaver because while my house and life aren’t the pinnacle of perfection, we do our best. Strangely enough though, no one knows about this blog. Not even my husband. It’s not a secret exactly but I honestly didn’t think that I would keep up with it so I decided to keep it to myself for the time being. As the months went by I decided that I liked having a place all to myself. I’m sure that I will have to spill the beans someday, but for now, this is my own personal haven.
Soon after starting to blog again I stumbled into a large giveaway event through blog hopping that turned into another, and another. Through that I lost focus with what this blog was going to be. I would like to thank The Gnome’s Mom for this blog hop and the virtual kick in the butt to get back to what I had originally intended with this blog.
I look forward to getting to know these great moms a bit better and bringing you all into my life a little bit more.
