We Bought a House!

IS-q9yr3k8m5nq5It’s been a whirlwind few days. We have been looking at houses for the past few weeks and there has always been something that kept each house we saw from being “The One”. Either the kitchen and/or the yard was too small or there was no privacy in the backyard with another house being right there without many or any trees. Whatever the reason, it just wasn’t it. I was starting to wonder if we would need to bump up our price range a bit to find what we were looking for.

On Thursday I sent two houses to our realtor that we wanted to see and he came back with another one that just came on the market that day and added it to the list for us. This is the first time he’s done that, but houses are moving in days here with multiple offers so he just went for it. It ended up being the house that had everything we wanted and we fell in love with it!

This morning we got the call that our offer was accepted. We beat out two other offers and another was coming in today! On the market for 3 days with 4 offers, we feel very fortunate that our was accepted. But oddly enough, I wasn’t worried about it. I felt like this one was meant to be after our showing. In one of the kids’ rooms there was a big wall sign with their baby’s name and it was Austin. Austin was where we were looking to move before the job in Colorado came along. Just another weird thing that made me feel very zen about the whole thing.

This is our first home purchase since a comparable house in Connecticut would easily be $100K more so we are very excited to be “grown ups” with our own house finally. Next on the list when we get settled is to go rescue a cat or two. I’ve desperately missed having cats!

  1. Just stopped in to congratulate you and your family on your home purchase!! Best wishes!

  2. How exciting! Congratulations to your family! Have fun decorating and making it yours. :)

As far as rescuing cats, keep your eyes open…one might find you! (We have a new kitty as of December, and we weren’t looking for one, but glad she found us…had been living in the woods behind the house)

    • Thank you for your well wishes. I am definitely open to having a cat find us if that is how it’s meant to be. We will also definitely be rescuing one or two from a shelter
