Organic Beauty and Skin Care that Doesn’t Cost a Fortune

Dangers in skin care productsMany of us are becoming more aware of all of the chemicals in our food, cleaning products, the air we breathe, and even what we put on our skin. I have been making many more eco-conscious and healthy choices over the years but I admit that it has taken me a bit longer to make the move toward organic skin care.

I have recently learned that cosmetics are the least regulated products under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) and pre-market safety testing, review, and approval are not required for cosmetics. I find this a bit alarming since chemicals in topical products can enter the bloodstream through the skin.

DEA (Diethanolamine), TEA (Triethanolamine), Bronopol, Dioxane, Talc, Silica, and the artificial colors Blue 1 and Green 3 and the impurities in commercial batches of D&C Red 33, FD&C Yellow 5, and FD&C yellow 6 are all known carcinogens and are often found in makeup, cleansers, hair dyes, and skin care products. Scary, isn’t it?

But fear not, there are places that you can go to purchase natural skin care products that won’t kill your wallet. Enviro Products World has organic cosmetics and skin care products at reasonable prices as well as other products to keep your family healthy and safe from nasty chemicals. I love that this site is very transparent about the ingredients that are in their products as well. Each product has an ingredients tab.  Below are just a few of the skin care products that they carry.

    Great post!
I may be a weirdo, but practically all I put on my skin is coconut oil (and sometimes a sunblock if I can’t avoid the sun). Hard to find an effective safe deodorant though (well, deodorant yes, anti-perspirant no!)
