AppleCheeks Swim Diaper Review

AppleCheeks Swim Diaper review

When I think of the Fourth of July, besides barbecues, I think of swimming and you can’t take your baby swimming without a good swim diaper. I have wanted to try the AppleCheeks swim diaper since I started cloth diapering over two years ago but just never got around to trying one until now. I have long been a fan of their diapers so it didn’t come as a surprise that I would like their swim diaper, too.

I was given the Totally Twilight swim diaper to review for the Red, White, & Blue giveaway hop and AppleCheeks is also sponsoring one for one of you.

Of course the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous color. It is a beautiful gender neutral blue with hints of purple in it. To show you the true color of the diaper, here it is next to a Purple Rain AppleCheeks and another diaper that is predominantly a dark blue. I absolutely love this color for either a boy or a girl.

The diaper looks like a classic AppleCheeks diaper in shape and design but has a mesh lining for water to pass through.

The difference between a reusable swim diaper and a typical cloth diaper is that the swim diaper isn’t absorbent. It’s designed to hold in any solid waste while allowing urine to pass through. If a swim diaper was absorbent then it would get very heavy and weigh your baby down. Even disposable swim diapers are designed to work this way but take up room in the landfill when you’re done with it. As if that wasn’t enough of a reason to use a reusable swim diaper instead, many public pools and swimming areas are now requiring or encouraging the use of reusable swim diapers.

Even though K-Dub hasn’t tested this diaper to its limits yet, I am confident that it would be able to contain any mess that he could dish out. The elastics on the legs are nice and snug as are the elastics on the front and back, just like their regular diapers.

I think this diaper looks really cute! I love having a dedicated swim diaper and not worrying about accidentally ruining one of my pocket diapers if I use it as a swim diaper.

  2. Rachel N says

I love this color. I have a lighter blue swim diaper from applecheeks and it works really well.

  3. Ashley F says

What a nice, rich color! I love that their swim diapers snap off, I would not want to deal with poop in a pull up swim diaper, LOL!

  4. Tannis W says

Mrs Robinson was my favourite applecheeks color until it was discontinued and I love the color of totally twilight too. I would really like to try the applecheeks diapers.

i love the color of this swim diaper, but i’m thinking i might just have to use the cover of my ai2s that i already have

  7. Rachel says

These are WAY cuter than disposable swim diapers! I can’t believe more people don’t use them!

I haven’t even thought about swim diapers yet, but I’ll need them next summer at the beach for sure. These look great.

I love AppleCheeks! The ruffles are so cute that I don’t want to cover it up with a swim suit!

  10. Vivian says

I haven’t tried Applecheeks for swim diapers! Reuseable Swim diapers make more sense because we just wash hem with the sim loathes and towels when we are done swimming.

I’ve heard great things about Apple Cheeks and we need a swim diaper. I love that it has snaps. I know people say the just use pocket shells but I’d hate to ruin and therefore waste one. I’d love to win this.

What a cut swim diaper. I love the fact that it has snaps (wont ruin mummy’s swimsuit like aplix) an that it goes on like a regular pocket rather than just having snaps on one side. Getting some of those other swim diapers off a wet little one can be challenging.

I’ve never used applecheeks, but this diaper just looks comfy. The elastic seems soft. Did you notice any absorbency at all? I know some of the swim diapers are a bit absorbent. We’ve been using an empty pocket diaper, and I always end up covered in pee.

This one isn’t absorbent at all. I have a couple that are (Charlie Banana and iPlay) and a couple that aren’t (this and Imse Vimse). Luckily I haven’t gotten peed on 😉 I don’t see why you couldn’t put a thin cotton or bamboo liner in for a little bit of absorbency though.

That looks like a great swim diaper! I have one that you pull up, and I think having snaps would be great so you don’t have to pull it down wet baby legs

I really like this and would be interested in trying one!
I just got my first swim diaper that someone bought for my son, and i really like them.!
These ones look a lot trimmer though! 😀

Great color and pattern – perfect for backyard cookouts while the kids cool off in the pool. Love that these diapers are not “water absorbent” so that they do not become heavy and uncomfortable.

This is the first review I’ve read of a swim diaper. I really had no idea how they were different, so thanks for that explanation. I’ve heard such amazing things about AppleCheeks. There is a cloth diaper store opening near me next weekend and they will be carrying AppleCheeks so I can’t wait to buy our first one!
