Today I am gearing this toward bloggers because for me, aside from having good content, a blog also needs to have nice photos for me to stick around and read more. It makes a blog look more polished and professional when it has big, beautiful photos.
The other important thing for blogs these days is the ability to make your posts pinnable to Pinterest. You can’t pin a post without an image so a big part of a blogger’s time is spent making some kind of image for Pinterest and the more attractive it is, the better.
Online photo editing is so much easier for those of us who want a polished look while being Photoshop illiterate so I am going to tell you about some of my favorite tools for getting the job done. The first one is a site that I stumbled on a couple of months ago called Fotor.
I use several photo editing programs for different things, but the two things I use Fotor for the most are their collages and font selections. They have a lot of options available and they are still free to use.
Collages are great for blog posts since they provide visual interest and you can include several photos without making your post really long. On the left of the screen you can see that there are a lot of shape options for whatever number of photos you would like to use for your collage. There are also a lot of options for adding clipart, frames, overlays, fonts, and more.
Here are some of the collages I have made with Fotor:
You can also make collages with funky shapes like this:
Another important part of creating a fun graphic for your blog is to have a good font selection. If you always use Arial or worse, Comic Sans for all of your graphics then they won’t be very interesting to look at. Fotor has its own fonts within the program but it will also allow you to use the fonts on your computer by choosing the Local tab.
If you just need to fix a photo up a bit, the tools are very easy to use. They also have a lot of fun effects.
You can also make your own DIY cards.
In the coming weeks I will be telling you about some of my other photo editing/graphic making tips as well as my other favorite sites and programs.
