There are so many plugins available for WordPress but it isn’t always easy to find them. I have found a lot by trial and error or recommendations from other bloggers; many I never knew existed and never would have been able to find on my own. Here are some of my favorites that have made managing my blog so much easier.
If you have a great plugin that you love then please share it in the comments!
When my spam blocking plugins let a spammer through I whack ’em with my ban hammer. This plugin detects spam IP addresses and blocks them or you can add an IP address manually if one sneaky by or you have someone you don’t want visiting your site. Once the IP address is entered into this plugin the banned person will get a notification that their IP address has been banned.
You probably see this in the comments section of most blogs that you visit. It gives other bloggers a chance to showcase their work by displaying a link to their most recent blog post. This spreads the “luv” to your fellow blogger by allowing them to get some exposure as well as a backlink to their site and it benefits you by encouraging others to comment on your posts. Win, win.

Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin (GASP)
No one likes captcha. Having captcha on your blog can even deter people from commenting on your blog because it’s such a pain to deal with. GASP is the little checkbox that asks you to confirm that you aren’t a spammer.
No Right Click Images
If you’re worried about your photos being stolen for use by other sites or creeps, don’t let them right click to steal your images. Note that this does have the downfall on preventing other bloggers from using your posts in roundups since they won’t be able to capture your image URL.
We’ve all probably accidentally published a post once or twice and it’s really annoying. After accidentally publishing my Top 10 Posts of 2013 post a week early I heard about this plugin from a blogging friend of mine and I am forever grateful.
Stop Spammer Registrations
When you write reviews and sponsored posts you need to mark the links as nofollow. Instead of entering it manually, with this plugin you will be able to check a checkbox to make the link no follow and it adds it to the code of post so even if you deactivate this plugin your links will remain nofollow.
WordPress Meta Robots
This plugin gives you the option of marking a post as nofollow but since I’ve hard that it doesn’t add no follow to the code of the post it could be unreliable I don’t use if for that. However, I do use it to very easily mark a post as no index. Just a quick click of a dropdown menu and you’re done!
