I received a complimentary item in exchange for my honest review.
I started cloth diapering 3½ years ago and during that time I have used a rather small diaper bag. While I liked the size, it wasn’t always easy to carry enough diapers for a full day out. Plus I had to also pack my big wet bag and it just wasn’t always the perfect choice.
I was recently asked to review the Carryall from My Chickadee. I loved what I saw on their website so I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself! It looked like the perfect solution for us cloth diapering parents. (of course you could use this bag with disposable diapers as well)
Dub is now four years old (and still not fully potty trained, ugh) so we don’t use as many diapers as we did when he was an infant. For us, a full day away from home requires about four diapers, a handful of cloth wipes, a small spray bottle, and whatever else we want to have on hand for snacks, drinks, books, etc.
A look at the My Chickadee Carryall:
There is plenty of room in the two main compartments for anything you may need to pack.
The center zipper compartment is generously sized and is perfect for a wallet, cell phone, and car keys.
There is also a small front pocket that’s the perfect size for keys or a cell phone if you want to have it more easily accessible.
But that’s not all! The My Chickadee Carryall also comes with a fantastic leatherette changing pad. This pad is nice and thin and lightweight but is a great size, easy to wipe off, and easy to store back in the bag. It closes with a velcro closure which is nice if you’re trying to get set up with a baby in one arm. Fumbling with a snap one-handed is no fun!
Now the best thing for us cloth diapering parents, there is a wet bag included! Yes, you no longer have to bring a separate wet bag. This one is lightweight and folds up to a compact size inside the Carryall yet will hold at least 3-4 dirty diapers depending on the kind you use.
The wet bag has a handle that can be snapped on to a bar or looped over a door knob.
The Carryall is a great size. At 14″ x 12″ it’s not too big or too small. I was very surprised at how lightweight this bag is for its size as well. The bag is made of 100% heavyweight cotton and lined with light-colored and super soft peachskin lining and weighs less than 2 pounds.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday we had out-of-state family visiting. I took this bag with me while we went up to Boulder to spend the day walking the Pearl Street mall and unlike other bulky and heavy diaper bags, I was perfectly comfortable carrying this along with me. I even got a compliment on it from a cashier when I put the bag on the counter to get my wallet out of the center compartment.
All of this was in my Carryall and my shoulder wasn’t hurting at all at the end of the day. I could have fit some more things inside if I needed to.
Beautiful and functional, I would highly recommend the My Chickadee Carryall to any parent, but especially the cloth diapering parent because of the large compartments and included wet bag. How great is that? The wet bag not is not only great for storing dirty cloth diapers though. It’s great for holding wet clothes in case of a diaper leak or even sippy cups if you’re worried about them leaking.
I love this bag and I only wish that I had one earlier on in our diapering journey!
You can buy your own Carryall in a variety of gorgeous fabrics from My Chickadee for $69. In addition to the Carryall they also have a changing clutch that’s great for those who use disposable diapers, wet bags, snack bags, and doll baby carriers.
