I received both of the following products from Deserving Health to facilitate this review.
When Deserving Health contacted us to try their Gentle Body Wash and Lotion from their line of baby products, I thought they looked nice, but didn’t expect to be blown away. I mean, how much difference is there from one bottle of baby lotion to the next, really? But I am seriously impressed by Deserving Health.
About the products:
To start, both products showed up with a coloring sheet tucked in the box, which was a nice touch. My son had fun coloring them. The bottle designs are also cute with a different baby animal on each one. The Philosopher really likes that, too, which can be pretty important, as anyone who has tried to catch an escaping slippery, post-bath toddler would know. If I tell him we’re going to use the bunny lotion, he sits nicely and holds the bottle for me.
The lotion has a classic, unscented body product smell, which isn’t unpleasant. I thought it was going to be greasy when I first tried it, but it absorbed very quickly without leaving a trace of that stickiness behind. After I applied it two nights in a row, my husband and I both noticed that The Philosopher’s skin was much softer than usual. But I wondered how it felt. That’s when I tried something crazy.
My skin is extremely sensitive to moisturizing products, especially in hot weather. I get hives or a strange rash that no doctor has been able to figure out. I’ve been told several times that it looks like a bad heat rash, but the doctors are always confused because it lasts months at a time. Since we don’t have a solution, I’ve learned to avoid anything that causes the rash which means my moisturizing choices are limited to pure coconut oil. This only work alright and leaves me feeling greasy. I have been looking for a better product for a long time now. So I took the plunge and used the lotion on all the areas that I’m prone to this rash. And didn’t break out. At all. In fact, it seemed to soothe the tiny patch I was already dealing with. I haven’t been able to use an actual lotion in years. I am amazed. I have no idea what exactly makes this work so well for me, but I can say it is definitely rash friendly.
I liked the Deserving Health Baby Gentle Body Wash, also, even though it didn’t solve any life long problems for me. Despite it not containing any perfumes or artificial scents, it has a very pleasant smell. The Philosopher smells so clean every time! It has an impressive ability to suds up. Most organic or natural soaps and shampoos that we’ve used just won’t foam up nicely leading to us using a lot more product than we’d ordinarily need. This body wash created great foam, and a little bit went a long way. I’d like to check out their bubble bath for this reason since most natural bubble baths we’ve tried are pretty underwhelming. My husband didn’t read the label and assumed this was a body wash/shampoo combo like we typically use on our son, and there were no negative result from that either. Phil had a bit of chaffing from running around in a damp swim diaper at a splash park and did not complain when we used to soap on that so we can assume it didn’t sting or burn at all.
I have no hesitations with using these products on newborn skin when my little one arrives in a few weeks (or days).
Where to buy
In addition to their baby product line, Deserving Health carries adult products, and homeopathic drops. All of their products are made from natural and organic ingredients and are free from synthetic dyes, perfumes, and all that other nasty stuff that we really shouldn’t be absorbing through our skin.
