I received a complimentary product in exchange for my honest review.
When you walk into a store looking for a new doll or stuffed animal, it is rare to find one that is high-quality, handmade, and that serves a higher purpose. To find a lovable new addition to the toy collection that could very easily be a future hand-me-down, one needs to look for cuddle+kind.
From the moment that I was introduced to this company, I was blown away and so excited for my daughter! At first glance, these adorable knitted friends may seem like any other stuffed toy that could be bought at the store, but once you dig a little deeper, it’s clear to see that there is so much more to them.
Every single cuddle+kind doll is crafted and embroidered by hand in Peru and adheres to fair trade regulations – this means that those wonderfully crafty women who make these by hand are paid a livable wage and are treated with the respect that they deserve. Unfortunately, there aren’t a whole lot of toy companies who outsource to other countries that can say the same.
Furthermore, cuddle+kind’s major function is donation. For each and every doll that is purchased from cuddle+kind, they give ten – that’s right, ten – nutritious meals to those children in need through World Food Program USA as well as Children’s Hunger Fund. Their goal is to provide one million meals a year. Imagine how many lives that is improving!
Between those two points alone, I was completely sold on this company, yet they continue to surprise me. When you purchase a cuddle+kind doll, you are guaranteed to receive a non-toxic, natural cotton, and safe toy for your child(ren). An added bonus is that the stuffing within the doll is hypoallergenic polyfill, which is great for my daughter with her extra-sensitive skin.
With nine designs to choose from, there is one for any little boy or girl. My daughter was lucky enough to get Isla the Mermaid who is a cute, red-headed mermaid (which fits my ginger, pool-loving girl perfectly). Each doll comes with a story, birthday, and a quote. In Isla’s case, she was born on April 11th, so we were able to celebrate her birthday soon after receiving her. Although my daughter doesn’t call her Isla (she prefers to refer to her as Ariel since she’s obsessed with the Little Mermaid), the love for her is evident. Every night she gives Isla a kiss, hug, and tucks her away for bedtime.
The standard doll is twenty inches in height and features a wrist-band that states 1 doll = 10 meals. A badge of honor, if you will. Because this doll is so long, it is probably best for a child who is a little older. However, for a limited time, there are little versions of all of the dolls and they are about thirteen inches in height. This is a limited stock, though, so if you’re hoping for the little size, it’s better to do so sooner rather than later.
Finally, cuddle+kind also has adorable prints for your child’s room or nursery. These have different quotes printed along with the image of one of the dolls. When one of these are purchased, five meals are given through the services I mentioned earlier. Plus, as an added bonus, if you buy two dolls, you receive two of the prints for free!
My daughter loves Isla the Mermaid and I plan to purchase one for my next little girl as well (not to mention the two that I will definitely be getting for my niece and nephew)! I encourage you to give cuddle+kind’s website a look-through and to find your child(ren) a soft, lovable new toy to cherish for years to come. Just like me, I’m sure you won’t regret it!
