Quality cat food made with real ingredients isn’t always easy to find. I have always ordered my cats’ food in bulk online. Now that I’ve discovered that there is a Kriser’s Natural Pet store near me, I have a new place to shop for my cats. I can’t wait to tell you about all of the amazing and natural products and services they have for feeding and caring for cats (and dogs). Plus, their staff is incredibly helpful and pets are always welcome.
If you live in Colorado, Texas, California, or Illinois, chances are that there is a Kriser’s nearby. We visited the Westminster, Colorado location and were very impressed with the selection of food, treats, bowls, and toys as well as the services they offer. They also have a dog grooming salon and anesthesia-free teeth cleaning for both cats and dogs on premises.
The store is bright and clean and the staff is incredibly helpful. When we walked in she told us all about the products they sell and why they chose them. Not all pet products make the cut to be sold at Kriser’s.
I was excited to find that Kriser’s carries my cats’ favorite natural cat food, Merrick Purrfect Bistro. While I sometimes try out other foods with Pete, my cat Orion will only eat Merrick. He is the pickiest cat I’ve ever known! He doesn’t eat cat treats either. What kind of cat doesn’t eat treats?!
I was also happy to find out that if you buy 24 cans of cat food they give you a 10% case discount. This is great news since high-quality cat food isn’t inexpensive. But my kitties are worth it and when my cats are healthier, there are fewer vet bills.
Kriser’s Natural Pet store also has a large variety of natural cat treats with only the best whole ingredients. All of their treats exclude grain because being obligate carnivores, cats do not need grains and can’t digest them properly. Cats should be on a grain-free diet, and this includes treats.
As I mentioned above, pets are always welcome at Kriser’s so bring your furkids with you when you go shopping. We didn’t bring our cats because cats and cars aren’t a match made in heaven, but we did bump into this little cutie. This is Winnie and she went to work with her mom. Dub doesn’t like dogs because they are generally too excitable for him, but he loved Winnie. He even wanted to bring her home and didn’t understand why she wasn’t up for adoption. So thank you to Kriser’s for letting my little man know that dogs aren’t always scary (to him).
This is our haul. Of course, I picked up a case of Merrick Purrfect Bistro canned food for my guys as well as some Wellness Kittles cat treats. Pete goes NUTS for these treats! We also picked up a catnip pillow and the coolest cat bowl ever, the Beco Bowl.
If you are a cloth diapering mom then maybe you are familiar with the Beco Potty. The same brand manufactures the Beco Bowl. Even though it looks like plastic, it is made of biodegradable material. When you’re done with this bowl, you can bury it in the ground and it will decompose.
Not only that, the Beco Bowl has a low profile so your cat’s whiskers aren’t up against the side of the bowl. Most of us use a high sided bowl and this means that your cat has to put their face in it and this can irritate their whiskers causing whisker fatigue. Cats’ whiskers are very sensitive and they use them to navigate the world around them. Having their whiskers constantly rubbing on bowls is likely irritating to them. My cat Pete was showing signs of whisker fatigue and he loves his Beco Bowl.
What Are the Symptoms of Whisker Fatigue?
From petguide.com: If your cat is exhibiting the following behaviors, she may be dealing with whisker fatigue, which can be annoying and painful:
- Pulling food out of the bowl to eat it on the floor instead
- Leaving food behind in the bowl, despite still being hungry
- Behaving aggressively towards other pets while eating
- Making a mess with her food on the floor
- Showing signs of hunger, but hesitating to eat by pacing near her food bowl or standing next to it for some time prior to eating
