The Nicki’s Diapers website was one of the first I stumbled upon when exploring the possibilities for cloth diapers. While I did not end up purchasing from the site (I ended up collecting a bunch of used diapers for my starter stash instead), I recall looking through the many diapers in wonder and awe.
The designs were catchy and, despite not knowing what to look for per se, it helped me a lot when it came to figuring out about the different types available.
That being said, when I was asked to review one, there was no way that I could decline! It has been three years since I first looked into cloth diapering and I have yet to try a Nicki’s Diapers diaper. I jumped at this opportunity and, boy, am I glad I did.
I received one of the newest OS diapers, an Ultimate AIO (all-in-one), Safari Sunset print. This diaper is a stay-dry with its fleece topped microfiber. As my Little is a heavy wetter, this was the perfect way for me to keep her feeling comfortable a little longer.
When I first looked at the diaper, I admit that I was a little confused. This AiO appears more like an Ai2 with the way that the padding snaps into place. Different companies call them different things, however, so I didn’t dwell on it. Just make sure that if/when you need to fold down the microfiber for a smaller fit, make sure to fold it under, not over so that the microfiber isn’t on baby’s skin.
Admittedly, when I first put this diaper on Little, I was a little apprehensive. I hadn’t prepped it as much as I would have liked, so I was nervous that she’d pee right through it. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did it last the normal time between changes, it held up much better than some of my other diapers.
Even more impressive was that Little’s skin was, indeed, dry! I have never used a fleece-lined diaper before, so I was very pleased with this discovery.
As always, I love when the diapers have crossover tabs. Although Little is too big (har har) to utilize these anymore, I know how much easier it makes diapers to use from birth to potty. Both of my girls, though big newborns, required the crossovers to make them work.
After multiple uses, I can honestly say that this is one of my most coveted diapers in my stash. I now try to save it for the days that we need to be out of the house for a long time because I know that it will hold up to my heavy-wetter while also keeping her dry so that I won’t worry about her getting a rash.
In case you weren’t already sold, Nicki’s Diapers is a part of a buy one, give one promotion. Every time you purchase a diaper from them, a diaper is donated to those in need. How cool is that?
Check out this diaper and others like it at Nicki’s Diapers! You won’t regret it.
