November and December are crazy in this house! I know that they’re busy months for everyone, but in addition to the usual busy-ness of the holidays, we also have three birthdays within a month in this family.
K-Dub’s birthday was on November 5th and we ended up keeping it pretty low-key. I was going to throw a party but then decided that it’s his first birthday, who is the party really for? The adults. So we scrapped it and had a fun family day. We went to a fabulous children’s museum where he toddled around and had a great time. Oh yeah, he started walking a few days before his birthday, too.
November 30th was The Husband’s birthday and again, we just had a quiet night at home with gifts and a really nice dinner.
Finally, Red turned twelve on December 8th. That weekend he had a party at a movie theater. They saw The Muppets and then afterwards we brought wraps and whoopie pies. It ended up being a really good time, save for a meltdown by one party-goer. Not the kind of thing that one would expect from a twelve-year-old and it made me very uncomfortable, but other than that, the party was a great success.
So I have finally moved on to Christmas preparations. I have a few more batches of cookies to make and have wrapped up the gift wrapping, so now I am here to wish you all a very happy holiday, whatever it is that you celebrate at this time of year. If you don’t celebrate anything at all, have a very happy last week of 2011.
