K-Dub: We have our appointment with the audiologist tomorrow morning regarding K-Dub’s lack of words. I think that his hearing is perfectly fine and this is just a formality, but it’s still nerve-wracking to bring your child in for testing.
We also got the call today that Birth to Three will be coming to do their evaluation on April 6th. Again, nerve-wracking. I still think that he’s likely a late bloomer, but the thought of the possibility that something could be wrong with your child leaves a pit in my stomach. He has been responding to more phrases in the past week even though he doesn’t say anything other than babble. He knows “bring me a book” and “can I please have that?”. He will bring the book or hand over whatever offending object he has in his hand without hesitation. But soon we will find out once and for all if he’s just a late bloomer.
Red: We finished our medication change back to a once daily dose of Concerta. We were building his system up with small, twice daily doses of Ritalin to get to this point. He was on Concerta for a few years but was taken off and put on a non-stimulant a few years ago. Now that we’re back on the Concerta things are going better on the homework, school, and general home front. For the most part.
He did have to serve community service at school for a verbal altercation with a classmate. I guess the kid called Red a name and he came back with something similar but pretty offensive. Both boys has to serve for 2 days by cleaning desks and vacuuming after school. I loved the punishment.
