Kelly Wels is a leading cloth diaper expert, advocate and founder of KellysCloset.com (yes, she is that Kelly) and DiaperShops.com as well as TheClothDiaperWhisperer.com blog. In 2010 she decided to sell her business to new owners and pursue cloth diaper advocacy full-time. During that time she also added the title of author to her list of accolades with Changing Diapers: A Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering.
Changing Diapers is the first and last resource you will ever need when it comes to cloth diapering. Kelly answers any question you may have as well as many that you probably never thought to ask.
When I was pregnant with K-Dub I had considered the possibility of cloth diapering part-time. I knew that cloth diapers had changed from the days of flats, pins and plastic pants but I didn’t know just how much. I assumed that they may leak more than disposables so I thought that I would use them at home and use disposables while we were out. Excited about the possibility of this new venture I took to the internet like many of us do where I noticed a great big world of pockets, covers, all-in-ones and so much more. I became overwhelmed and tabled the idea for the time being, though I was definitely intrigued. It took me six months to buy my first cloth diapers because I was so worried about making the wrong choice. A single diaper wasn’t cheap if it ended up being the wrong thing and ultimately, all of my first diapers were exactly that. Of my original diapers, I have sold all but one; a Bummis Whisper Wrap. If only this book came out a year earlier I would have started cloth diapering sooner and probably with a better stash to begin with.
Not only does Kelly give you the ins and outs of cloth diapering lingo, she also discusses cloth diapering at the various stages of baby and toddlerhood, gives tips on laundering , using cloth diapers in daycare, how to conquer leaks, nighttime diapering solutions and so much more! She even tells you a little bit about some of the bigger name diapers that are on the market so that you can decide what brand might work best for you before buying. This book is wonderful and if you’re considering cloth diapering or are a newbie, this book is a must have! It’s even helpful to those of us who have been doing it for a little while. If nothing else it’s nice to have on hand to loan out to a friend or family member who may be considering using cloth and needs a little nudge in the right direction.
