I feel like ever since I turned 30 (several years ago) I have been trying to maintain a balanced lifestyle and keep myself in check. My biggest stumbling blocks to success are portion sizes, hidden sugars, and bread. Lunch is always the hardest for me because I don’t want to cook some gourmet meal in the middle of the day so I resort to leftovers or a sandwich.
In an attempt to stay on track and have portions pre-measured for me I took a ride to Walmart for some goodies to help me on my journey. I picked up a few Lean Cuisine meals to try. There were so many choices; much more than I was expecting. I chose a variety of breakfast and lunch options: Sesame Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, Turkey Sausage English Muffin, Creamy Balsamic Chicken Wrap Additions™, and Three Cheese and Spinach Stuffed Pretzels. Convenient and tasty.
I admit that I’m not one of those people that wakes up in the morning ready to tackle the day. It takes me a while to wake up and frankly, I can be a little grumpy. I need my coffee in order to interact with people in anything other than grunts. With my coffee I need coffee creamer but unfortunately it has a lot of sugar in it that can derail my efforts to eat better. I picked up some Sugar Free CoffeeMate as the perfect change for my morning coffee without sacrificing taste.
Then there is my sweet tooth to deal with. Yeah, it’s pretty bad. I love chocolate and peanut butter but my thighs sure don’t. Did you know that Skinny Cow makes chocolate candies?! Neither did I! I bought some and for just 130 calories this is a much better alternative than a bowl of ice cream. Delicious. Now I don’t have to feel nearly as bad when the late night sugar craving creeps up on me while catching up on my DVR.
See? Small changes don’t have to be painful and you can stay on track to continue your goal of living a more balanced lifestyle.
What small changes do you make to keep yourself on track?
