Back to school season is upon us and it’s also that time to take out a second mortgage for your kids’ new fall wardrobe. But wait, you don’t have to go broke on high quality, name brand clothes every year! When it comes to buying my kids clothes I very rarely buy new, especially for Dub since he still only wears clothes for one season. I not only like to save money on clothes, I like to lessen my environmental impact.
I am so excited to tell you about Moxie Jean, an upscale online kids’ consignment shop for sizes 0-13.5 where you get the clothes you love for 75% or more off retail prices.
Moxie Jean is based in Chicago and was founded by sisters Sharon Schneider and Sandra Pinter in the fall of 2012. Between them they have five kids ranging in age from 10 down to 2. Moxie Jean is a Red-Tricycle finalist as the most awesome “Online Consign, Swap and Recycle” site, a Moxie Award Finalist and has been featured on the TODAY Show, “Good Day, Chicago,” Daily Candy, iVillage, and is a 2012 graduate of Chicago’s renowned Excelerate Labs (now Tech Stars – Chicago).
For my review I was given a $35 gift code to choose some clothes. Since Red is a half-size too big for the clothing sold on Moxie Jean I chose some fall outfits for Dub. I got a pair of Nautica Jeans, a reversible Janie & Jack shirt, and a Hanna Andersson shirt for $34.97. Not a bad deal, eh?
Sometimes when you get clothes at a consignment shop they’re a little faded and have an odor to them. An odor of a bunch of different stale laundry detergents mixed together. It’s not a big deal and washes out in one or two washes but I immediately noticed that the clothes from Moxie Jean didn’t have that smell at all!
I was also immediately struck by the fact that the three items I received all looked new. I barely noticed any washer fading at all. The most impressive to me was this Hanna Andersson shirt. Usually screen prints look a little cracked and worn but this one looks like it’s never been washed or worn!
Everything fit perfectly and of course my little man looks incredibly handsome in his new duds!
Now I know you’re probably thinking about giving Moxie Jean a try, right? Now is the perfect time because they’re offering The Anti June Cleaver readers $10 in Moxie Money for $50 spent (or $25 in Moxie Money for $100 spent.) How awesome is that?
