I received a complimentary product in exchange for my honest review.
About twelve years ago I worked for a furniture cover company that made covers out of Tyvek. Yes, the same stuff that is used in construction, mailing envelopes, and hazmat suits. I thought it was an odd material to use for outdoor furniture and grill covers but it worked! It’s a strong, waterproof material so it makes sense.
When Verdiva approached me about reviewing their Tyvek shopping bags I was very interested. I received three in these bright, beautiful patterns.
Tyvek is a strange material. It feels almost like paper and like it is very fragile but if you’ve ever tried to open a Priority Mail envelope you know that’s not true. However I do have to note that these bags are attached to their packaging with a sticky substance. Be sure to remove the bag very slowly and carefully from its packaging. I did have two rip but it was just a small rip on the outer layer. The bag is still intact and has been used for groceries and other things without incident during my review period. As long as you’re very careful removing it, you should be fine.
Update 11/4/14: I have been informed by a representative of Verdiva that the packaging has been changed and no longer uses a sticky adhesive.
Of course these bags are perfect for shopping bags but they are good for carrying all kinds of things. We have used them for our groceries as well as bringing a few things in the car to keep Dub occupied and the bags have performed very well.
Inside each bag is a little pouch for easy storage and portability.
I love how lightweight and colorful these bags are and they are also machine washable and recyclable. I would recommend changing their packaging to something that doesn’t involve sticking the bag to the cardboard but other than that I have been very pleased with the performance of the Verdiva reusable shopping bags.
