While I live in Colorado now, I am a New England native and that means that I love the Boston Red Sox. We Red Sox fans take our team very seriously and I am no exception. My first trip to Fenway Park was with my uncle when I was about eight years old and I’ve never looked back. I still remember my first walk down Yawkey Way very clearly. It was the first of many.
My grandfather was a lifelong Red Sox fan up until he passed away in March 2004 so when the baseball season started up a few weeks later I watched that season as my tribute to him. Little did I know then that I was going to witness history in just a few short months. After 86 years, the Red Sox would finally win the World Series! Sadly, my grandfather was never able to see his Red Sox win a World Series so to me, that win was for him. I cheered, I cried, and I have watched almost every game since then.
While the 2015 baseball season has already begun, the season never really starts for me until the home opener at Fenway Park. Today is that day and we’re ready to go!
Of course it wouldn’t be a proper Opening Day celebration without some sweet Red Sox gear from Fanatics.com, the largest retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise. The boys each got to choose a new t-shirt to ring in the new season. Red picked out a Red Sox Nation shirt, Dub chose a David Ortiz shirt, and I finally picked up the Alex and Ani Red Sox logo bracelet that I’ve been eyeing for a few years now.
Fanatics.com has a great selection of gear for the baseball fan in your life. They offer hundreds of thousands of officially licensed items for all major professional sports leagues as well as your favorite college teams. We found the perfect shirts to match these two guys’ personalities. How handsome are they?!
Red has been lucky enough to see quite a few games at Fenway Park. When we were still living in Connecticut we usually went to two games a year at Fenway which is such a fun experience. There’s even a hat for that.
Since we moved to Colorado when Dub was a year and a half old he has only been to Fenway in utero, but he has seen a Red Sox game. His first baseball game was in 2013 when the Sox came to Colorado to play the Rockies and he had a blast! You would never know that we were the away team with all of the Red Sox hats and shirts in the crowd.
Unfortunately, we’re only able to see the Sox live every few years now that we’re in Colorado so this year we will be rooting for the Red Sox from the couch in our Red Sox gear from Fanatics.com. Look at these two making their mama proud. They know that there is nothing in life like the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry and they’re dressed for the occasion.
Are you also a baseball family? What team do you root for?
