Because today is National Cat Day, what better time is there to introduce you to our new cat? He is currently unnamed, though he came from the shelter with the name Toby. For now I like Atticus, Angus, Ivan, Rex, and Dexter. If you ask my husband, Atticus is winning. What’s your vote?
On Sunday I decided that I wanted to adopt another cat because in my opinion, you can never have too many. We went to our usual shelter, The Dumb Friends League in Denver, but they only had a few cats and none of them were the one. We wanted another male and he would have to be able to handle Dub’s wildness and also get along with other cats. It’s a great thing that they didn’t have many cats, even if it wasn’t so good for us.
So we went back toward home and stopped at PetsSmart to see if they had a cat for us and I needed some kitty litter anyway. There were three cats there that we liked from area shelters. “Toby” was the second cat I looked at and he had this presence about him. When he went back in his cage so we could look at the third cat, he sat on top of a box very regally and watched us. I knew right then that he had picked us to be his forever family.
He is a big cat with very long legs and a huge voice. He is talkative and unbelievably friendly. He loves to sit on any available lap and he is a wonderful addition to our family, even if Orion isn’t sure about him yet. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of “Toby”/Atticus/Angus/Rex/Ivan/Dexter around here as he makes appearances in posts from time to time. Until then, Happy National Cat Day!
