I am not a morning person. I have never been and I probably never will be. But being a mom, I don’t have much of a choice but to get up and get it together. I have a first grader to get to school and work to get done while he is there, so I can’t spend the morning in bed no matter how much I would like to. Trust me, I really would like to!
The alarm goes off at 6:30 and I want nothing more than to turn it off, roll over, and keep snoozing away. Especially this time of year when it’s still pitch black outside. But I can’t. Instead, I get up and trudge down the hall to wake my first grader up, who wants to get up almost as much as I do.
The day begins . . .
My little man and I both make our way downstairs for breakfast. This is just for him because I have a hard time eating before I’m awake. I am more of a brunch person but without the Eggs Benedict and fruit salad. I am more of an English muffin on the fly kind of girl.
He eats while I make his lunch and get his backpack ready for school. Homework? Check. Lunch? Check. Snack? Check. Water bottle? Check.
Now that we’re both a little more awake, it’s time for the real morning routine to begin. It’s time to brush our teeth. He uses Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry™ children’s toothpaste with fluoride. I, on the other hand, prefer the new Luminous White™ toothpaste from Tom’s of Maine. Being a coffee drinker, I need to do all I can to combat stains and leave my mouth tasting fresh.
Made with naturally derived ingredients, Luminous White™ toothpaste from Tom’s of Maine can give you a whiter, brighter smile in just two weeks with daily brushing, twice a day. Available in Clean Mint or Spearmint, you have two great flavors to choose from for fresher breath.
It is also comprised of biodegradable ingredients, mineral-derived ingredients, and water. It doesn’t contain artificial ingredients, is gluten-free and is paraben-free. They do not test on animals and Tom’s of Maine Luminous White™ toothpaste doesn’t contain artificial colors and sweeteners. Now that’s refreshing! You can purchase Luminous White™ at Target to start your mornings off right.
Now that I’ve had my cup of coffee, my teeth are brushed, and my little one is at school, my day can really begin. I start off my by checking my work emails. I delete what is junk and prioritize the rest. First responding to collaboration requests, campaign updates, etc.
After the email is taken care of, I get down to the meat and potatoes of being a blogger. Creating content. This doesn’t always mean writing content because, contrary to popular belief, there is more to creating content than sitting down at your laptop and having a brainstorm of amazing ideas. Oh, if only it worked that way! In order to create content, you need inspiration. I get that through reading, writing ideas in my little notebook, and a little daydreaming among other things. I then take that little idea and turn it into a post. This could take a few hours or a few days depending on how much research is involved.
There is also a lot of backend work to take care of sometimes. Revitalizing old posts, updating graphics, dealing with site updates and upgrades, and sometimes there are also technical issues to deal with. Also, you can’t neglect networking and promotion. The day of a blogger goes by fast! Even if it doesn’t look like a lot is happening on the front end, there is always something to do.
And just like that, the morning is over. It’s time for lunch, a shower, and then off to pick up my son at school to start the afternoon and evening routines and start it all again.
