Who loves cleaning the bathroom? If you do, raise your hand. I didn’t think so.
Like you, I also don’t like to clean. I do it because I don’t want to live in filth, but I want to clean my home in as few steps as possible. Especially the bathroom. Cleaning the bathroom may be the worst chore in the whole house. Gross things happen in the bathroom that create germs, scum, and mold.
If you’re looking to cut some corners in your bathroom cleaning routine without sacrificing clean, then this post is for you. This is how I get in and out of the bathroom in as few steps as possible to move on to more pleasant things . . . like writing blog posts about how much I dislike cleaning the bathroom.
Countertops and sinks
How is it that countertops can get so grungy? Between my husband's whiskers from shaving, stray toothpaste, and makeup residue it seems as though the countertop and sinks are constantly in need of a good wipe down. When needed I spray Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner on the sinks and countertops, let it sit for a few minutes to do most of the work, then wipe them down with a cloth rag. Done!
Scrubbing Bubbles® is a versatile cleaner that will clean and disinfect almost all bathroom surfaces so I use it for almost everything.
Is there a more unpleasant job than cleaning the toilet? I don’t think so. I want as little contact with the toilet as possible so this is another place that I use The Scrubbing Bubbles® Fresh Brush® Starter Kit & Caddy. It has 4-in-1 cleaning power to eliminate odors, remove limescale and clean under the rim as well as below the water. It’s the only toilet cleaner with two types of pads to meet every toilet cleaning need.
To clean the base of the toilet, I wait until I am mopping the floor and clean the dust and shmutz that collects in the crevices and give it a good wipe down with the mop. I don’t want to be on my knees scrubbing if I don’t have to be.
After spraying the tub with Scrubbing Bubbles® Mega Shower Foamer, I wipe down the tub and tile with a cloth. The grime and soap scum wipes right away with barely any scrubbing. The less scrubbing, the better.
After wiping down chrome fixtures, they can look streaky and dull. To fix this I polish my chrome fixtures and accents with a dryer sheet. It makes the surface shiny and it smells pretty good, too.
Bath toys can get pretty disgusting, so to clean them I give them a weekly soak in warm water and about a half cup of vinegar. The vinegar does the work so I don't have to! After a few hours or overnight, I dump the vinegar water in the tub, rinse the toys, and they're ready for bath time again.
Next to the toilet, the shower is my second least favorite place to clean. We have a shower stall so soap scum and hard water deposits gets all over the doors and walls. Scrubbing Bubbles® is perfect for this job since it is formulated for cleaning soap scum, hard water stains, dirt and more. I usually spray the shower before I am going to get in so I can do double duty; rinse the shower and get myself clean at the same time.
To clean mirrors I put an old sock on my hand instead of using a paper towel. One reason is that I am trying to eliminate my dependence on paper towels and an old cotton sock doesn't leave lint behind like a cleaning cloth can. I have a large mirror in my bathroom so the sock is also convenient because instead of stopping for a new paper towel, I just turn the sock to the dry side to finish cleaning.
Instead of bringing in a broom and dustpan, I bring in the vacuum to clean the floor instead. I vacuum up the floor and corners, then mop the floor.
Baseboards and corners
While vacuuming my floors, I use the brush tool for the corners and baseboards. After the vacuum has done most of the work, I then mop the baseboards to get them clean. Why get on your hands and knees to scrub baseboards if you don't have to?
Finding products that do most of the work for me, like Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner which is easily found at Walmart in the Home Cleaning aisle, and using my mop for the toilet base and baseboards have been my biggest time savers while cleaning the bathroom.
I would love to save even more time cleaning. What is your favorite cleaning shortcut?
