Foodie Friday: Melt in Your Mouth Steak Sandwiches

This sandwich is inspired by Pioneer Woman’s Marlboro Man Sandwich. Many aspects of it are still the same but we have changed up a few things to suit our personal tastes. This is one of my husband’s favorite sandwiches ever! It’s so good and so easy!

Mouth Watering Steak Sandwiches

Gather your ingredients:

For this recipe you will need about a pound and a half to two pounds of beef (I like to use stir fry meat or shaved beef since the work is already done for me but you could certainly use a flank steak sliced thin), a bell pepper, an onion, butter, Worcestershire sauce, Monterey steak seasoning, good quality garlic powder, hot sauce (I like Chohula), pepper, and four nice sandwich rolls.

Mouth Watering Steak Sandwiches

Slice your onion and bell pepper, cook them in a pan with a 1/4 stick of butter and some pepper to taste.

When your peppers and onions are cooked to your desired doneness set them aside and cook the meat in the pan with about 2 tablespoons of butter, 1-2 teaspoons (or so) of Monterey steak seasoning, garlic powder to taste.

When the meat is cooked add about a 1/2 cup of Worcestershire sauce, Chohula hot sauce, 2 more tablespoons of butter, and the cooked peppers and onions.

Yes, this sandwich has a lot of butter and that’s what makes it soooo good! Don’t skimp. This is NOT a dieter’s sandwich so have it on a cheat day or whatever but don’t try to health it up.

When your meat, peppers, and onions are combined cut your rolls in half, butter them liberally and put them under the broiler for a minute or two. Assemble, add cheese if you like, enjoy, and thank me later!

Mouth-Watering Steak Sandwich

  • 1 med onion
  • 1 bell pepper, whatever color you like best, I prefer yellow or green
  • 1 1/2 sticks of butter
  • 1 1/2 - 2 pounds stir fry beef, shaved steak, or thinly sliced flank steak
  • 1-2 tsp or so Monterey steak seasoning
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • Chohula hot sauce, to taste
  • pepper
  • 4 whole good quality sandwich rolls

  1. Slice onion and bell pepper and cook in 1/4 stick butter and course ground pepper to taste until your desired doneness. We like them soft but with a little bit of crunch left. Set aside
  2. If you are using a steak, slice it thin. Season steak with Monterey steak season and garlic powder
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons butter over high heat (in same skillet) until melted and beginning to brown. Add meat to the pan and cook until brown.
  4. Add 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce, Chohula sauce to taste (3-5 shakes or so), garlic powder, and 2 tablespoons butter.
  5. Add cooked pepper and onions and combine.
  6. Cut rolls in half, butter them liberally and put them under the broiler for about 2 minutes, check them after a minute..
  7. Assemble your sandwich, add cheese if you like, and enjoy!

Yum! I love pioneer woman recipes. Tonight we actually put her beef drip sandwich with pepperoncinis in the slow cooker, so good.
