Gift Ideas for Pre-Teen & Teenage Boys

My oldest son is going to be thirteen in less than a month. Thirteen! I don’t know how this happened or where the past thirteen years went, but here it is. The teenage years are staring me in the face.

The past few years have been very hard in terms of gift-giving and with his birthday also being in December, I have to come up with that many more ideas in a short amount of time. This is no easy task when your child is a little too old for toys but not quite old enough for adult gifts. Other than video game systems, computers, cell phones and other high ticket items, I have found a few great ideas for him that I thought I would share with others who may be having the same difficulty that I am.

Without further ado, here are my gift ideas for pre-teen & teenage boys.

  1. oooooo….thanks for the ideas! All I could think of was video games and I didn’t really want to help that addiction;)

  2. These tips definitely suit the age. My little brothers love LOTR, The Hobbit, Star Wars and building thing s with Lego. My hubby loves Borderlands. I also recommend a Steam Account- there is usually good games on there. On the making of things, there are many kits out there from art to carpentry to figurines. Also, books! I know not every boy likes to read, but there are comic books and with e-readers kids can choose from a variety of books.

  3. Thanks for sharing. My boys are all under 8, but the list is still useful!

  4. Thanks!! I’ll be pinning this post after commenting. I don’t have any pre-teen/teen boys to shop for, but if I did, this would probably be helpful. I’ll pin it, in case one of my pinterest followers is looking for suggestions.

  5. It’s SOO hard to shop for this age. Thanks for the great ideas!

  6. Does ANYONE have any idea how to find things like pokeman, nightmare before christmas, or zelda ‘buttons’ to pin to a backback/purse or a keychain type of thing? please email me if you know of a store to find these! pretty please (obviously for a teen girl). jill.shoemaker @gmail. com

ps the boys in our lives like models, soldering kits, remote control helicopters, apparently AA batteries are like a ‘golden ticket’ to them, as well as iTunes cards, trac phone cards, etc.

    1. A soldering kit is a great idea! My son also likes models and electronics kits but he already has them so they didn’t make this list. I’ll have to do a part 2 of items he has that were hits 🙂

    2. Hot Topic or Spencers always has fad buttons 🙂
