Our whole lives are on our computers these days. A computer crash or a disaster in the home could cause us to lose important documents, work files, music, and even worse, our family photos. I would be devastated if anything happened to my computer because all of my children’s pictures would be gone forever.
When ioSafe approached me to review their 1TB Solo external hard drive, I jumped at the chance! The ioSafe Solo is disaster proof!
Fireproof – Protects data from loss up to 1550°F for 1/2 hour per ASTM E119
Waterproof – Protects data from loss up to 10ft for 72 hours
Data Recovery Service – Up to $1000 for forensic recovery
USB 2.0 Connectivity
Mac and PC Compatible*
Before even opening the box I noticed how heavy it was! Then I opened the box and saw how sturdy it looked. It is much larger than our existing external hard drive (that is now in our fireproof box as a back up). When they say that it’s disaster-proof, I believe it! Here it is set up on our desktop. Look how big and sturdy it is:
It was very easy to load all of our files onto the ioSafe Solo. It’s as simple as drag and drop! Another feature that I like about this hard drive is that we can turn it off with a simple on/off switch on the back. We leave our computers on 24/7 and our old hard drive stayed on along with the computer. Since we only need the hard drive on when transferring data, it’s nice to be able turn it off when not in use, which is most of the time.
Overall I think this is a fantastic hard drive and I feel that our files and irreplaceable family photos are safe and secure from just about any possible disaster that could ever happen. The only thing that I wish this hard drive did was auto-update on a schedule. This is just a convenience though and to manually update it when needed is so simple that it’s really a non-issue in the grand scheme.
