The Meaning Behind My Blog Name

I’m a little late to the Summer Blog Challenge party but I wanted to do this prompt, so I’m doing day 4 on day 6. I’m a rebel!

The Anti-June Cleaver is just what I am. I am not Anti June Cleaver or any other housewife for that matter, but I am the anti-housewife. I was laid off in July 2010 when the health insurance company that I worked for was sold to a bigger health insurance company and they were taking only a very small handful of people with them. At the time I happened to be five months pregnant so really, the timing was perfect. So while I don’t consider a myself a housewife or a stay at home mom, that is what I am for the moment.

When one thinks of the suburban housewife it’s not me that they’re picturing. My house isn’t a sty but it’s certainly not company ready at all times, I don’t like to do my hair, I listen to loud rock music, I don’t have the daintiest mouth, I don’t go to playgroups or mom clubs, and I’m not on the PTA.
