This summer marks our fifth year in Denver. On one hand, it’s hard to believe that it’s been that long. On the other, it seems we’ve been here for much longer. It’s even harder to believe is that we hadn’t been to Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park in all of that time!
Thankfully, we live close to Elitch Gardens, so we decided to take the kids for our first trip there. We were so excited and couldn’t wait to check it out.
Now we can tell you all about it and why we think you should add this amusement park to your summer Denver bucket list.
The first thing we did when we arrived was to take a spin on the carousel. It isn’t a proper trip to an amusement park without that, is it?
Not far from the carousel is Main Street where you can get food, souvenirs, and ice cream. This is a great stop to refuel after a few hours walking around the park.
If you visit the park with young kids, they will love KiddieLand. There are plenty of rides that are perfect for little ones, and some that older siblings will enjoy as well.
KiddieLand was bigger than we initially thought, so plan enough time to see everything you want. Some of our favorite rides were Mike’s Bikes, Jumping Jack, and Balloon Race.
The Goofy Gazebo is also a lot of fun.
There are plenty of thrill and family rides at Elich Gardens. If you love thrill rides and rollercoasters, you won’t be disappointed.
Half Pipe, Brain Drain, Twister II, and Mind Eraser are rides you shouldn’t miss if you like thrill rides. The lines are pretty long, so be prepared, but the wait is worth it.
If you like rides that are a little more tame, there are plenty of those, too. There are classics like the Tilt-A-Whirl, Big Wheel (ferris wheel), The Spider, Thunderbolt, and many more.
Elitch Gardens might look small from the highway, but looks are deceiving. This amusement park has it all for families who love good old fashioned fun.
There is also a water park to splash around in when the weather is hot, so don’t forget your swimsuits!
