As someone who shops online a lot, I often find myself wishing that there were more product photos available. Especially when it comes to children’s books. I’d love to see more pictures of the inside of children’s books to help me make a decision on whether to buy it or not. This is when I got the idea to share a little more of our favorite books. I hope that these posts will help you discover some great books that your child(ren) will love as much as we do.
This is Not My Hat is a great book for teaching young children about honesty and not taking things that don’t belong to you. I was intrigued by the simple cover and I loved the artwork inside so we checked it out of the library along with a few other Jon Klassen books. I quickly fell in love with this book and author.
This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen
With simple words and small amounts of text, This is Not My Hat will hold the attention of the youngest readers and is perfect for children just starting to read on their own.
It is a story about a small fish who foolishly steals the hat of a much larger fish because he thought the hat fit him better. Through the story, he explains all of the ways that he is going to get away with stealing the hat. Throughout the story, he explains all of the ways that he is going to get away with stealing the hat.
While the larger fish’s facial expressions continue to tell a completely different story.
The illustrations in this book are simple but clearly tell the thoughts of the larger fish without him saying a word. Your child will enjoy piecing together the story and figuring out what’s going to happen next. We loved this book and I highly recommend buying this cute book or checking it out of the library. Your little ones are sure to love it.
One of my absolute favorites!
I’d never heard of it before but am so glad that I discovered it. With my kids being just shy of 11 years apart I’m a little out of touch with what’s out there for children’s books and I’ve been having fun discovering them 🙂
