My little man, Dub absolutely loves apple sauce squeeze pouches. When I say he loves them, I mean he LOVES them! We always have some in the pantry since they are a healthy and convenient go-to snack. They are perfect for after school and especially when he needs a mess-free snack in the car.

Since we already love Musselman’s Squeezables in Strawberry, Honey Cinnamon, and Unsweetened flavors, we were excited to try the new Musselman’s Squeezables Sours Apple Sauce. They come in three flavors unique to Musselman’s that Dub loves: Sour Lemon, Sour Cherry, and Sour Raspberry.

As it turns out, Musselman’s Squeezables Sours Apple Sauce have just the right balance of sweet and sour. Dub loves the flavors while I love the ingredients. Made without GMOs or high fructose corn syrup, I feel good about keeping Musselman’s Squeezables Sours Apple Sauce in our pantry.

Musselman’s Squeezables Sours aren’t just convenient for snacking, though. They’re also good for crafting! We used to throw the caps in the recycling bin until I wondered if they could be repurposed for crafting. That’s when I decided to make these cute squeeze pouch cap critters.

All it took to make them was a few more craft items like pipe cleaners, googly eyes, little pompoms, and some glue. Dub loved using the caps for crafting and these critters couldn’t be easier to make.

Pipe cleaners fit inside the cap perfectly so you don’t even need to use a lot of glue. That makes this a great craft for younger kids

By looping the pipe cleaner through the squeeze pouch cap, we made wings and antennae for our butterflies, bumble bee, and ladybug. You could use a dab of glue to keep them in place if you need to.

To complete them, we glued on some googly eyes and a pompom nose and drew spots and stripes with a permanent marker. I think they came out really cute and I am now inspired to see what else we can make with squeeze pouch caps.
