Directions
- If you are making a craft stick star ornament, paint five jumbo craft sticks with bright yellow craft paint.
- If you are making a craft stick Christmas tree ornament, paint both ends of one jumbo craft stick with brown acrylic craft paint, five jumbo craft sticks with green acrylic craft paint, and a wooden star with bright yellow acrylic craft paint. Apply a second coat, if necessary.
- NOTE: You might want to use washable acrylic paint or markers instead of regular craft paint when working with younger children.
- Once the base coat is dry, cover all of the craft sticks and wooden star with gold glitter glue. Set aside to dry.
- NOTE: If you don’t have glitter glue, you can use liquid craft glue (such as Mod Podge) and gold glitter or gold glitter acrylic paint instead.
- Take five of the yellow craft sticks and arrange them into a star shape.
- Carefully remove each craft stick, then apply a dab of glue at the cross-sections and glue them together in the star shape you created.
- NOTE: Hot or low temp glue gun and glue sticks will work best for this type of project.
- Measure and cut a two-inch section from each end of the brown craft sticks to make a tree trunk.
- Arrange three green craft sticks into a triangle shape for the tree. Attach them at the cross-sections with a dab of hot glue.
- Attach the remaining two green craft sticks across the center of the tree and trim the excess with scissors.
- Glue the tree trunk to the base of the tree, then glue the star to the top of the tree.
- Attached assorted color rhinestones to the star and Christmas tree craft stick ornaments with liquid glue and fine tip applicator.
- NOTE: If working with younger children try to find self-adhesive rhinestones.
- Measure and cut a 10” length of ribbon and tie the ends in a knot to create a loop. Secure the knotted end to the back of the ornaments to create a hanger.
