Last May I had the opportunity to review the original Funky Fluff Stay Dry cloth diaper and it has been one of my favorites in my rotation ever since. When the opportunity came up to review their new Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0 diaper I jumped at the chance.
The original Stay Dry on the left, the new Stay Dry 2.0 is on the right
What’s new about the Stay Dry 2.0:
- Slimmer design in the middle of the diaper for ultimate trimness
- Slightly wider elastics around the back for comfier fit
- Elimination of double gussets resulting in less bulk and building on the All In Two concept (soakers sit on top of the shell nice and flat without gussets in the way)
- 2.0 soakers are more narrow to fit the new shell
K-Dub is 3½ and almost 35 pounds. He is now on the last setting on a lot of his diapers (good thing he’s starting to show more interest in the potty). The original Funky Fluff we have is just about to be retired because the bottom hip snap is *thisclose* to being too tight but the new 2.0 (and the bamboo 2.0) fits him really well.
We don’t have any gaps in the legs which holds in leaks.
We do have to use both inserts with him since he’s an older toddler and wets a lot at one time but the 2.0 is cut a bit slimmer and we are still able to wear regular sized bottoms with both inserts.
You can see how much slimmer the cut of the 2.0 (on the right) is when they’re side by side.
The wings are a little shorter on the 2.0 and the snap placement is ever so slightly different.
From this view they look like they’re still exactly the same but the inserts are slightly slimmer to accommodate the new slimmer cut of the diaper.
The biggest and best change in the 2.0 is that the inner gusset has been removed. I am not a lover of internal gussets at all since they make spraying poop off more difficult and in my opinion they don’t enhance performance at all. Whether a diaper has inner gussets or not we still don’t have poop blowouts in our cloth diapers. Even though I use my Funky Fluff as an AI2 instead of a pocket some poo would still get into those gussets.
I love Funky Fluff diapers and I recommend them to anyone who is looking for an easy to find, reasonably priced diaper. Especially if they’re looking for an AI2. Try one, you won’t regret it!
